Iraqi children memories
Our memory still saving all beautiful thoughts and pictures about the family epically the mothers, sisters and the wives who used to support their husbands in bad and good times.
Many stories tells the reality of what happening in Iraq after the occupation, it’s really unbelievable and so sad, Um muhanad’s story is one of that Iraqi sad stories, she is Iraqi woman, a victim of the occupation democracy, she was in her thirties, married and has 3 kids, lives with her family in AL- Saidiya suburb in Baghdad she was working in one of Iraqi Bank. All neighbors respects and know her, she wasn’t Ba’athist she don’t belong to any party. So there is no reason to hurt her or her family.
Um Muhanad used to go to her work every morning and come back to her home at noon with all that stuff they need as a family, one day after she went morning to her work, without known that something waited on her to steal her life from her family and leave her kids without mother. During her return to home, she was holding many food bags for her kids. Before reach home, a car (GMC) without tags, stopped and obstructed her, they beaten her and tried to pull her inside the car, when they couldn’t do that they shot at her deadly and left her laying on the ground her bags were everywhere like her body , all covered by her blood.
Her husband still shocked and refused to talk about how he did find his wife’s body after they killed her, all he could say just questions to “whom concerned”:
- how will be my kids after they did see their mother killed and her blood cover her body? What will be their future with all that violence and killing in their country? What the future of the whole family after we lost the mother and the wife and the life itself, she was everything to me and to her kids , what I will tell them if they ask me about the reason for all that….it is insanity.
The son Muhanad who is still in school saying:
“We rushed to my father after we heard that shooting, we were frighten and we thought that militiamen will inter the home and take my father, when everything get quit again we went out to see what happened out, I cant forget what I did see, she was my mom laying on the street and dead her blood was everywhere as her bags.
My mother was a good woman everybody love her she is worm hearted …I don’t know why they killed her…her last picture on the ground still in my mind...I can’t forget it at all especially at night when I go to sleep, I feel like she is coming to me again and that make me scared, I go to my brother’s bed to sleep with him.
My littlie sister always ask about my mother and cant believe that she lost her and that makes her cry again and again.
My other brother refusing goes to school again or go out and want to stay whole the day in his room, he scared to see my mother laying on the ground again, I am confused and don’t know what to do.”
